Realpolitik of gerrymandering aside, Nina's position here may be influenced by self-interest. Recall: in 2022 she lost her primary run in Ohio's then-newly-gerrymandered 11th district. Nina continues to have political ambitions, but Ohio also continues to be heavily gerrymandered in favor of GOP.

Ohio AG Yost responded by trying to recast the federal court decisions as a somehow ruling against "Ohio’s nearly century-old ballot initiative process" as opposed to his own unconstitional misconduct and abuse of power.
