I get so FEW bug splats on my car when I drive distances now.

Birds NEED insects.
Birds NEED grubs & caterpillars.
If you kill the bugs you also kill the birds.
AND...
KEEP YOUR CATS INDOORS!

BUT...
On a happy note...

2 years ago, I got LIGHTNING BUGS back in my yard!!!
10 years of organic NO CHEMS lawncare & they're finally back & more abundant every year since!!

Top seeding over to native fescues
Compost NOT fetilizer!
NO GRUB treatments!!! They don't only take problem grubs!

I see changes to local (north shore Great Lakes) migrations too.

Again, the bigs are doing well (jays, cardinals, robins up to bald eagles, osprey, corvids) but the littles...
Far less diversity in sparrows, goldfinches where I never saw before (feeding in big box outdoor garden ctr) etc

I summer in "northern" Ontario (central if you look @ map, "Near North" to the locals) where the summer woods used to be FILLED w chattering, chirping, singing birds. The bigs are still there, but the littles, most espec the plethora of warblers, vireos & kinglets... silent 5 yrs now
