Lots to admire in this gorgeous article but after working & writing about working dogs for a long time, I have a different view about breed linked behaviors. You are whole lot more likely to get a dog who can brilliantly herd sheep with a border collie than a Labrador.

I haven’t seen the film yet but have seen the stage production twice and adore the original Broadway cast.
