This was a flip answer but honestly if Raz doored into Akira's head I think he'd just find... Akira. Maybe a playground. The losers would be whoever tried to make them fight

It means that any individual looking at how much tax they pay won't see a change if their wage remains the same (which is why the calculators aren't reporting big changes) but at a population level wage inflation means the tax take goes up.

Dan Neidle has a good summary - the biggest impact for most people will be "fiscal creep" i.e. you keep tax thresholds where they are, and let inflation drag more people into paying tax / paying higher rate. taxpolicy.org.uk/2025/11/26/t...

The original graph shows that people will limit their income at certain thresholds due to the wider financial impact. This is a lose-lose scenario if you want to maximise tax revenue from high earners - which I assume you do.

And just to be really clear - people taking big salaries is good for the Exchequer as 40%+ of that over 50k is collected as tax, reducing the tax burden that needs to be met elsewhere. The spikes at 50k and 100k in the graph represent artificial limits on tax revenue driven by policy choices.

Correct - to add to that I believe the graph uses data from a few years ago when the threshold was £50k - £60k.

It's only £250 but you lose the ability to benefit from a spouse's unused personal allowance. Like the child benefit taper it's frustrating for families with a large income disparity.

It's something that you never properly see but all the area maps slot together perfectly so that the various connections between them line up. Lea Monde is just a beautiful work of art and design.

Since I got my V60 I've gone hard into light / fruity roasts. Luckily there's a local roaster here in Newcastle (Pink Lane) that leans that way so I can get it really fresh but I need to check out some other roasters.
