For context: Trump’s post is responding to an article about Dems who are reminding soldiers that they are required to follow lawful orders and can be prosecuted for following unlawful orders.
So…it seems Trump’s calling reminders to follow the law “sedition” and calling to execute opponents.

The federal government is punishing all of its citizens to cow political opponents.

Just want to underscore these:
The federal government has proudly killed 57 people. It has not provided a single piece of evidence justifying the killings.

The president is also openly musing before assembled military about sending troops into Democratically-controlled cities.

El Segundo and neighboring Manhattan Beach are incredibly dense. And El Segundo is immediately adjacent to LAX.

About 17,000 people live in El Segundo, and so many of them live so close to that refinery.

North MB — El Porto and Tree Section neighborhoods — is bordered to the north by Chevron.

Per @latimes.com, the Supreme Court has lifted an injunction that prevented federal agents from “snatching people off Southern California streets based on how they look, what language they speak, what work they do or where they happen to be.”

This doesn’t bode well.

“Without tariffs, this country is in serious, serious trouble…there is nothing so popular in this country,” Trump just said.
It’s been about four months but per Gallup, people aren’t crazy about tariffs.

“Microsoft sales smash Wall Street expectations, driven by cloud and AI,” reporting $27.2 billion in profit — the same quarter it laid off more than 6,300 employees.

From my old colleagues at Spectrum News, the Trump administration will deploy 500 Marines from Camp Pendleton to Los Angeles “in light of increased threats against federal officers and federal buildings.”

A photographer I know used to dress up her pets in elaborate, silly costumes every year to sell a calendar.

Just popped into my mind this morning.

Branding is clearly Trump’s greatest skill — and even that hasn’t saved him from a horror show of business failures.

The fact that he’s made it this far, twice, is an indictment on our collective foolishness.

I feel this in my bones. Really missing the Webex chats from Spectrum News right now.

This one is absurd: a council member was banned from a few local bars over a vote. He was then sued by the bar owner for trespassing, and demanded the city defend him in court. The best part of the complaint against him is in the screenshot (and its alt text).

Interesting. LA Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong seems to tacitly agree with a GOP PR operative that LAT reporters are not doing their jobs right by not adequately platforming conservative researchers for Trump policies.
(Love the scare quotes around “experts.” Really screams “diversity of ideas.”)

There is something deeply sad about this pair of tweets, on many levels.
My “favorite”? This person wants her highly-processed bread to be made as she remembered it from more than 40 years ago.
She presumably voted, in at least some small part, based on bread. Decades-old memories of bread.

Petri’s work has been excellent forever and this is a top-notch humor column for the stupid moment we’re living in.
October 27, 2024 at 2:12 AM
lol. lmao, even.

the weasely non-endorsement fiasco that LAT and WaPo are mired in is profoundly disappointing. the comment to NYT by Soon-Shiong’s daughter, apparently trying to take advantage for lefty political leverage, being shot down by her own father feels appropriately asinine.
