Short list this month! Did a lot of 2025 catch-up/homework (and that will occupy the majority of my viewing time the next couple months) and I don’t include new releases in these round-ups. But lots of good stuff out there right now! BUGONIA, WAKE UP DEAD MAN, IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT, IF I HAD LEGS…

Oh, and GHOST TROPIC is also fantastic, so getting both on the same release is a steal.

As ever, I don’t include new releases in these rundowns, but last weekend, I got to see THE MASTERMIND by the great Kelly Reichardt, and it’s probably my favorite film of the year. Absorbing and tactile, packed with environmental and character detail, with a wonderful cast and score. See it!

Also, I don’t include new releases in these monthly round-ups, but I just watched and loved A LITTLE PRAYER. Beautiful, delicate, and totally pummeled me. One of my favorites of the year. If it’s playing in a theater near you, definitely check it out!
