Tonight's sunset, looking across Puget Sound from the Seattle waterfront. West Seattle is on the left and the Olympic Mountains are on the right. This is a beautiful way to end the day after watching the Seahawks win another game.

I love that Anna's Hummingbirds stay with us year round. I was able to capture this image earlier today during a short break in the rain. Winter is coming so it's almost time to bring out the heated feeders.

This is a Manx Shearwater that we saw near Smith Island earlier this summer while we were looking for Puffins. Manx Shearwaters are typically seen in the cooler waters of the north and south Atlantic, though their numbers have been increasing in the Pacific.

My office this morning. We are out on the Salish Sea looking for Puffins and other sea birds. The fog is thick but we're hoping it'll burn off by the time we get to Smith Island, where the Puffins nest. Fingers crossed that we see the illusive Horned Puffin that's been in the area this season!

A Red-breasted Nuthatch visiting the sunflower feeder on our back deck. Nuthatches are fast moving birds that can be difficult to photograph. This is probably the best photo I've ever taken of these little ones.

This male Rufous Hummingbird showed up at one of my feeders a couple of days ago. Rufous Hummingbirds spend the winter in southern Mexico and migrate to the Pacific Northwest for the summer. They're a sure sign that spring is on the way.

This Bald Eagle surprised me by suddenly launching from its perch on a large piece of driftwood as I walked down the beach at Hudson Point this afternoon.

I've been testing an OM-1 Mark II Micro 4/3 camera this week and the camera's birds eye auto focus did a great job helping me get these images!

A bit of snow has turned much of the Puget Sound area into a winter wonderland this afternoon. This is our front and back yard right now.
