Last night magnitude 7.4 earthquake in the Philippines Islands, recorded by the seismometers of the @geo3bcn-csic.bsky.social Educational Seismic Network in NE Spain
On August 10, a massive landslide in Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska, resulted in ground shaking recorded by seismic instruments around the world, as these in Spain, located at distances of 8,000 km aprox. Weak P waves arrive around 13:38 UTC, followed by S waves and surface waves.

Following the magnitude 8.8 Kamchatka earthquake, the Earth's normal modes are visible on broadband seismometers around the world, as here at the San Pablo (PAB) station in central Spain. The lowest mode, 0S2, shows that the Earth deforms every 52 minutes @geo3bcn-csic.bsky.social

Broad-band seismometers of the EPYSIM project in NE Spain have recorded the passage of surface seismic waves orbiting the Earth. At least five passages have been identified in each sense, meaning that seismic waves are still detected after traveling more than 200,000 km. @geo3bcn-csic.bsky.social

Broad-band seismometers of the EPYSIM project in NE Spain have recorded the passage of surface seismic waves orbiting the Earth. At least five passages have been identified in each sense, meaning that seismic waves are still detected after traveling more than 200,000 km. @geo3bcn-csic.bsky.social

The GEO3BCN-CSIC seismometer detected the blackout in Barcelona on April 28, 2025. When the metro and tram stopped operating, the seismic amplitude in the 30-40 Hz band decreased significantly.
