The presumption being that people are stupid and are probably just looking up the same old predictable trivia over and over again.

I don't know anything about search engines beyond my own experience, but I'd guess they put resources into algorithms that redirect and rephrase searches in line with the most utilitarian ie common/most profitable queries, and put less maintenance into cataloguing based on actual relevance.

The park that houses the Hillingdon data centres is owned by the same Ltd company that owned our garden. They bought up all the local ex-industrial land years ago to "regenerate it." Then built a business park/golf course and abandoned the rest. The business park used to be a quarry, then a dump.

The blog was quoting from a 90s book, and if there are digital copies, the AI that search engines now use have no access to them. It's a joke to suggest AI could compete with a researcher or subject librarian. I eventually found the quote by reading around on archive.org. gawd bless archive.org.

I've been doing my PhD during the AI rollout and I had noted down a quote used in a WordPress blog in 2022, but in 2024 I couldn't find the original citation for the quote. I had several verbatim quotes from the blog but Google would rephrase them into what it thought I *should* be searching for.

"... and the problem with men"? I can see why it's long!

Momfluencers are capitalising on this to cast watching a screen even once as gambling with your child's brain, but bed sharing is okay sometimes if you're a natural mama. They're giving their babies litres of mineral water a day and not letting them look at bright colours. It's all very confused.

It drives me mad that all baby health and safety advice is like: don't do this, not even once! Even though doing it once is fine. But also drives me mad that some people negotiate with death stats like it won't happen to them because they are *good* parents.

Like there is huge amounts of misinformation and disinformation that arises from the fact that people aren't taught the difference between these things, especially as SIDS data is largely correlative.

Yeah it drives me mad that the pro-AI bros don't realise their chatbot is just scraping Wikis, forums and WordPress posts that people researched and wrote for free. Now Google makes it impossible to find those specific post written by human beings. What's gonna happen when those human sites die?

So nice of you to reflect back and affirm his obvious need for ice cream.

Just to be clear, the GENOCIDE is the main urgency.

This post is just a continuation of that - "let me tell you my thinking, so you can see that I am actually right about this." Her defenders are calling it "vulnerable" and "nuanced." They feel her neurosis as the main urgency, and she's still chasing 'winning the argument' as a treatment.

with that... but we must assume she can afford distance, afford therapy, afford perspective that tells her: *this is not about you*. Instead she made her persona her whole schtick; and it made me very anxious to see how every video was so painstakingly tied to her sense of self.

I think that, looking at a lot of the responses, people are being very charitable. Yes, I also thought people were uncharitable, or went in too hard on a personal level. It is hard to filter out that amount of criticism into impersonal critiques and attacks on your very being, and I empathised
