Between THE RED TURTLE, ROBOT DREAMS, and now FLOW, dialogue-less animated films with gorgeous visuals and stirring scores are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Was deeply moved by FLOW. What a freakin year for animated film.

JUROR #2 is really good. A sharp little movie about the relationship between justice and self-interest, with an election in the background to boot. Really solid/classical filmmaking. Nicholas Hoult is excellent. Highly recommend this one.

Mostly Cooper Hoffman has stood out on his own, but man did this moment right here remind me so much of his father.

Four films that should be in the Oscars conversation but isn’t.
There are obviously other critics whose voices are way more important here, but I will say that I’m going to be annoyed when this wins the awards that should have went to CYRANO and ANNETTE.
Performances are great, though. Zoe Saldaña is especially excellent.

ANORA isn’t my favorite Sean Baker film, but it’s very entertaining and Mikey Madison gives an electric performance. One of the best endings of the year.

Yesterday was difficult, but I love movies and talking about them is a great form of therapy. Extremely grateful that we got to discuss two films last night on the podcast that I deeply loved. Really needed it.
