It's bitterly cold, the wind is biting, there's light sleet, and I'm out here with Ginger, who used to be one of the leaders of the flock but now that she's old she eschews the other chickens. So while they're having dinner in the coop out of the weather, she's out here and so am I. 1/2

Because Blanche is camera shy it's hard to get a sense of how she swishes when she walks. She's elderly now and a beautiful "grande dame." Watching her calms me.

On Threads I follow Vaddey Ratner, the author of In the Shadow of the Banyan, the exquisitely beautiful and devastating autobiographical story of the horrors of Cambodia in the 70s under the Khmer Rouge. She doesn't post frequently, but her posts always reflect her lived experience of genocide.
