Outside a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside a dog, it's too dark to read. - Marxist Ideology
I’m sad that I can’t be out there today, so I’m doing what I can from home.
For those of you heading out to exercise your rights, please be careful and take care of each other.

There is no way that my younger self could even begin to imagine where I am right now; in a church parking lot contemplating how bad it would be to bring my small dog inside in a dog purse for my husband’s confirmation.

Had to unexpectedly say goodbye to my old-man-baby-boy-buddy last week.
I loved him so much.
First time in 20 some years without a doggo was too hard for me to bear.

Of all the social media experiences I’ve had, this app gives the most “yelling at the void” vibes of all of them.
I’m just scrolling feeds of people yodeling into the crevasse.
So little interaction or “social” anything.
Maybe this is the nicotine patch of virtual living.
Maybe I should just quit.

I turned 53 yesterday.
Wolf would have been 32 Monday.
Henceforth, the liminal void that is birthday week will always be requested off, because working on these days is too difficult.
Got my hair done last night in tribute to this apropos and fully relatable moment.

I haven’t made a post in a bit, so here’s some tax for lurking.
Saturday:
Did my part in trying to maintain Democracy.
Ate a good meal.
Saw this guy speak at a library, which was good for the soul.
Sunday:
Woke up with vertigo. Spent day mostly on the couch, trying not to move. Bought a bread maker.

Today was the day that I learned that “vomitorium” is still being used in modern times.

I thought it was an unfortunate autocorrect, but apparently refers to the passage behind or under seats in a stadium, so there’s that.

Wow, did this hit me right in the solar plexus…
Growing up in Brooklyn, NY in the 70’s with artist/musician parents and FTBY+M being the closest thing to a religious text in my household, I could never imagine we’d be here.
Please ignore the giant burning pile behind me of things I’m grieving.

Listening to The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars on repeat for the last two days.
Feels appropriate.

Took a break from the chaos and went to go see @slowdiveofficial.bsky.social, so my cells could be washed and healed through the power and glory of reverb.

A little bit of light in a very dark sky; my friend Jonathan just launched this podcast.
It’s a cool concept and Jonathan is one of those people I could chat with endlessly.

Don’t look up!

I don’t know how I wound up in a job that makes me confront my math fears and trauma from childhood dyscalculia on a weekly, if not daily basis.
My current mental state is a potent combo of proud/anxious/exhausted.

Anyone using a regular tablet or a Kobo to read these days?
I have a ton of books on my Kindle and don’t want to lose what I have, but don’t want to put any more money into that black hole. Recommendations?
Don’t say physical copies, or my wall to wall, entirely overstuffed book cases will cry.

I think I did this wrong.
I’m still learning.
I like this game though, so for every heart, I’ll post something I love.

Waiting in the coffee shop this morning, a song intro I had totally forgotten about surprised me:
Crazy by Seal.
#1) I remember how cool this song seemed when it came out.
#2) Feels like perfect the unofficial official song for today.

Okay, so I’m actively trying to transfer my urges to check social media to reading books instead.
What is everyone reading right now?

Is this thing on?
