When my bio or chem students have a lab that doesn't work out, I tell them this exact thing. Science is failure! Over and over! And troubleshooting, endless troubleshooting.

Imagine if they just invested in giving people greater access to food, water, shelter and quality of life improvement. It'd be far more effective than their "IQ" range table.
