in the early 90s we could borrow a classic station wagon from the motor pool. I'm pretty sure my driving traumatized the folks in the rear facing seat in the back, driving from Oxford Ohio to Northern Kentucky University to hear Alan Ginsburg do a poetry reading. true story!

I still vividly remember seeing the Trabant they suspended from the ceiling in Victoria Station as a promotional stunt.

I wouldn't knock it until you try it. The beans aren't really "poached", its a casserole. The cream-of-mushroom soup is condensed, and you don't re-constitute it, so think sauce, not soup. The deep-fried onions on top are

I hope the Democratic Party old-guard goes down with Trump over the Epstein emails.

such a good show. in the first season, actually crying, I tell my wife “they captured that amazing feeling of hardware bringup!” and that wasn‘t even what made it good!

I have never before hoped so much that Schumer is also in the Epstein files.

Speaking as a video engineer, kerning is like frame rate judder. Once you see it you can't un-see it.

I made a sticker that is very popular with my friends, but it has a kerning error that I didn't notice until it was printed! It was the first thing I fixed in the 2nd printing.

I don't want to give the wrong idea, I *like* Grammerly. It's like having a proofreader always looking over my shoulder, correcting my typos, grammatical mistakes, and flagging when I write in a passive voice.

The style suggestions, otoh, are usually meh.
November 6, 2025 at 11:22 AM
This is the part I dislike about Grammerly and other writing support models: the suggestions file the edges off of my writing style. I have a "voice" and I want to keep it, even in a boring corporate memo.

Put another way, I want my personality to shine through my writing.

The market pushes up the value of Nvidia. Nvidia then invests in OpenAI, then OpenAI uses the money to buy chips from Nvidia, which books the order as revenue, which increases the stock price. Is this the real circular economy?

The rivalry is one way, though. LA doesn't care about SF.
