I wish she responded “Americans will seek justice for everyone involved, including you.”

Fuck me. When does this end? Has he been doing this to my brain for a decade now? How does he have any power over the world?

Only damaged humans would think this is acceptable. The idea that she is making the US worse in some way is laughable. We are no better for her suffering this, and these goons are now perpetrating violence - they are actively making us less safe. They’ve become what they pretended to hate. No values

I think he’s actually articulating a compassionate view. As if there’s a meteor heading toward us, and we have to see that shooting it with arrows isn’t going to stop it. There’s time to help everyone brace for impact, so we should help each other with that.

I’m sure Jeff put no thought into what was included and appreciates your editing.

You should be trying to bring the country together, not split it apart with juvenile trolling.

I’ve helped many entities quantify and reduce their GHG emissions in the last 20 years. That good work will continue, regardless. That good work will not be enough, imho. I’m not fatalist and I’m generally an optimistic person. But saving the planet > winning over the willfully ignorant.

I would agree wholeheartedly that rigorous study and utmost carefulness needed in design and implementation, but I’d say it’s time to believe what we see, that behavioral change will take too long. Our response to COVID a good example. Could have been contained early - and those who cared tried….

I’d say in this analogy, the person hitting themself in the head doesn’t feel the pain, and doesn’t even believe the truth that their kids will. So expecting them to stop, when there is plenty of incentive not to (profits, culture wars, etc). I assume the beating continues & intervention necessary

I appreciate your apprehensions about the risks, but I wonder what you see in the last few decades indicating humans will change their behavior in time to avoid catastrophe. I too, wish for ppl to wake up. But I believe it’s time to prepare for what has been unfolding in plain sight.

I think it’s time to have an honest discussion about this, - appreciate your essay.
We have decades of data regarding human behavior wrt curbing GHGs and should be honest about how that is going. If the goal is a livable planet for our kids/grandkids, can we gamble on the behavior changes needed?

It’s important to remember that as long as the billionaires are doing well, everything is going to be ok.

Something like that….🧐

This has been clear for decades and I appreciate you pointing it out. They will not allow the transition to occur until they are ready, and as you note, have milked every drop of profit possible. That is what their shareholders demand. That is what short term thinking brings.
August 28, 2025 at 6:51 PM
Roger that. I do often see push back against new advances that aren’t “good enough” and my thought is that we need to encourage them all, and not discourage any that actually result in reduced GHGs.

Practically speaking, this wouldn’t be a new point source - but treatment of an existing ongoing release. For the regs, the shift from fugitive emissions to a treated point source wouldn’t be too challenging.
August 22, 2025 at 7:32 PM
Oxidation of methane to CO2 reduces the GHG potency by almost 30x. It’s an effective treatment technology to reduce climate impact. Better of course, would be to not have the methane emissions in the first place, but that is separate discussion. We need all positive impacts we can get.

Morons. It is not anti-white to care for the disadvantaged among us, or to take actions that lift everyone up to make the world a better place. That helps everyone, even white ppl. This is not hard to understand. These dummies just refuse to see.
