That’s not really the story, NYT. The story is a fascist move on institutions to force them into lockstep with the regime‘s ideals. But the American media is broken, so not really surprising to see this kind of headline.

A considerable chunk of Trump voters from this last election (and I don’t necessarily mean hardcore MAGAs) didn’t understand any of these words (oligarchy, authoritarianism and kleptocracy). One thing Trump does well is talk in a way every moron understands. Maybe Democrats should too.
