she/her.
Mom, writer, artist, witch. Proudly queer. Resolutely anti-fascist. Neurodivergent and nerdy. Occasional silly goose.
In the years away from living in Tucson, I had forgotten that saguaros have SO MANY FLOWERS when they’re in bloom. Like it’s almost silly?

I present to you this stunning portrait of myself and my two kids, rendered in homemade play dough on one of the two cookie sheets we own, made by a very-nearly-four-year-old who was about as disappointed as I was when I said we had to dismantle it so we could use the cookie sheet later

I really thought that I’d be able to focus on higher levels of Maslow’s hierarchy by the year 2025, but I wasn’t counting on a bunch of ghouls deciding to break everything because they were mad that, for a brief moment in history, it was socially unacceptable to be a bigoted louse.

My kid used some dried flowers from a bouquet and stuff from our yard to make a “potion to help people who are sad be happy”

There’s plenty to share, if you need some ♥️

Existing in this tension is fucking hard but absolutely worth it

Leaning into hope as a verb.

Today was really hard, but there were also a lot of “beautifuls” to be found. My kid found some, my baby made one, and the postcard is a fitting memorial to a dear friend. #begaydocrime

I spent several hours outside with my kids today, playing and exploring and looking for “beautifuls”. I love these days with them - their imaginations and curiosity and problem solving and kindness. They give me so much hope. Here, we brought back some beautifuls to share:

Hey Allies, time to be Accomplices. Get loud, take action, and SPEAK UP for LGBTQIA+ folks. Someone you love is trans, nonbinary, and/or queer - that’s why you’ve considered yourself an ally. Make that love into a verb and fight back against transphobia and queerphobia EVERYWHERE.

This all feels so surreal. I wrote a version of this poem eight years ago today. It feels like a lifetime ago and also like it was yesterday. I changed several parts of it and added The Mother, since I now know what it feels like to stand in a moment like this as a mom.

It seems like we may have arrived. We could have universal healthcare, but the powers that be would rather kill people elsewhere than save people here.

At sunset, the sky was awash in blues, purples, and pinks, blending together like watercolors, and the huge full moon rising through it all was so beautiful that I *had* to take a picture.

After years of taking pictures of the full moon on phones, you’d think I would expect this result by now!
