My 33 yr old daughter pointed out a sobering fact - in her life time, every Republican president has taken the USA to war (or “armed conflict” as they ironically call it) - and no Democrat president has.
So I guess it’s not a surprise that Trump attacked Iran. It’s in their political DNA.
