In general, death in comics has been so overused that it lacks emotional impact. Phoenix I understand, because the whole “reborn from the ashes” thing. Everyone else, though? I guess being a superhero means a get-out-of-death-free card. Death ain’t what it used to be.

And I did pick up Aquaman and collect the title for the first time in years. Definitely a 52 high moment. Low: Didn’t like the attempt to erase Titans out of continuity because the NTT and Perez was a huge reason I started collecting comics as a kid.

I mean, I feel what you’re saying about highs/lows and writers may not write our favorites the way we like. I just felt some creative decisions on WW negatively impacted the character and took away some of her uniqueness of the OG origin in comics. Agree about Chang tho. Loved the art!

When I think of New52 I think of how much they screwed up Wonder Woman. Made her a child of Zeus, how she was trained by Hades. M*der Amazons. Took a feminist icon and gave her daddy issues. Horrible. And don’t get me started on the Titans and Donna Troy…

I do love me some Donna Troy. Check out the Phil Jimenez redesign from the recent Titans annual. Tweaks the Perez design slightly and removes the battle skirt. If you haven’t picked it up, it’s a must-read!

Hey, man. The 90’s were wild.

I appreciate your take. I also loved the more Greek “warrior” elements of the design and thought it made her stand out from Diana, something she desperately needed. Design suffered because no other artist could draw it correctly. Had a few things been removed it would’ve been an amazing look.

Please tell me you are not referring to the OG Troia Perez design. Note I am a huge Perez fan and consider him an idol but, that design had too many elements, even for the 90’s. Much prefer the Jimenez refined design or her current look by Nicola Scott which combines startled and red jumpsuit design
