A late night in the office does have some perks. Some lightning pics from a supercell that moved 10 miles south of Charlottesville a couple of hours ago. #VAwx #WxSky

I decided I would go to DC to see the full-bloom #cherryblossoms! With great luck, I stumbled into the cherry blossom festival, so I had the pleasure of listening to the Taiko drums and witnessing thousands of kites over the national mall. It was truly an awesome Saturday with great #DCwx

A new NWS damage survey reveals that my parents' house was almost impacted by an EF0 (probably about 900 feet from the top endpoint). Luckily, they had a NOAA weather radio because something similar happened last year.

Moving to Charlottesville really motivated me to change some habits. A better diet and more exercise has allowed me to lose 20 pounds (while gaining muscle) since August.

The "but my weather apps says" crowd must be in shambles. #inwx

I'll call it a successful Wednesday during Spring Break... reaching all my fitness goals and finishing a puzzle!

It's about 4-5 inches so far here in Charlottesville. Was fluffy snowflakes until about 3:30 when it transitioned over to sleet.

Submitting this into the "things you hate to see" archive. At least we enjoyed a taste of the 70s yesterday before being reminded of Mother Nature's cruel February nature. It's even centered on Charlottesville.

About 7 inches in Bedford, IN. We didn't have any rulers in the house, so we did the next best thing. #inwx

Just cleared off some cars. About 3 inches of snow so far with plenty more to come. In Bedford, IN #inwx

Snow (semi) sticking in Bedford #inwx. The magical time of year has arrived!

A classic radar image for me was when I was eating Torchy's in Indy, and I looked at the radar to see a detached hook echo right over head. There might have been a brief chase on foot after that.

A great snapshot during ascent out of Roanoke/Blacksburg. About to start the final leg of the trip from Charlotte to Indianapolis.

First time flying out of Ronald Reagan (US Capitol building and Washington momentum in the distance) to start a very hectic travel. That said, it should be a good weekend!

Currently looking better than expected.

Continuing my posts about the 2024 season, after meetings and classes held us up, we raced west out of DeKalb towards storms near Burlington, Iowa, which immediately produced a tornado. April 16, 2024 #IAwx

I recently found some fun science ties, and I can't wait to try them on at #31SLS. They look snazzy!

This year has been insane for natural phenomena (and life events), so I'll share some memories here. I start with a northern Illinois February storm chase (foreshadowing an active season?). The night following record highs in Chicago, we saw a funnel about a mile south of Paw Paw, Illinois. #ILwx
