And got to have dinner somewhere of historical significance too—the Pizza Express in Woking! No sign of Prince Andrew though.

I’ve really enjoyed spending a couple of days at the very friendly Surrey History Centre looking at the Broadwood Piano archives. Researching Broadwood’s trade to British colonies. Also saw some lovely piano designs.

Enjoyed a couple of days at the Pitt Rivers Museum and Ashmolean Museum archives. Trying to track down the histories of their collections of Indian instruments donated by SM Tagore.

Having a weekend break in Barcelona and happened to spot a Spanish translation of Alex Wilson’s The Puccini Problem in a local music shop! @amwilson.bsky.social

My first Chinese publication! How exciting! It’s an edited book that came out a while ago called 30-Second Classical Music.

I think the V&A wins the award for most opulent #museum cafe.

Some of the instruments on display in the South Asian gallery were donated in the C19th by collectors Carl Engel and Sourindro Mohun Tagore. But this is only a v small part of the collection, most of which is in storage.

Very much enjoying my first visit to the very grand National Art Library at the V&A Museum. Researching the history of exhibiting Indian musical instruments.
