I play board games, especially chess. I also write for American Chess Magazine. Sometimes I'm a psychology professor.
1001 Winning Chess Sacrifices and Combinations by Fred Reinfeld, first published in 1955. An essential training manual for several generations of chess players, until online puzzles became widely available in the early 2000s. #chesshistory

Last month we tried the Viking themed Karvi. This month’s new game was Rats of Wistar, a completely different rondel game of gathering resources, converting them into other resources, and placing workers on a central board while developing your personal board. Wait a minute… 💙🎲

I played fewer games last month. Still mostly chess but I am starting to appreciate Karvi. It always takes me a while to get the hang of these euros where you have to efficiently optimize every move. #boardgames #chess 💙🎲

Board game plays for March 2025. We tried Karvi, a Viking themed Euro where you gather resources, get upgrades, and optimize victory points. The game is light on pillaging and heavy on waiting for supplies so you can move your ship again… #boardgames 💙🎲
