While there was no measurable air quality impact in the direct vicinity, it will be interesting to quantify the overall environmental impact.

Solid state is a promising technology but considering the recent investments and government incentives, I think that lithium ion will be king for a while. That should not stop us from evaluating all tech technologies though. Organic flow could be an option for a long-term storage.

It is paramount that the industry learns from this incident. However, it will likely take weeks until we will get additional information on the root cause and event progression. The stranded energy hazard after the fire could be significant. Luckily there are no reported injuries.

Optimizing performance and safety. Reduction of the fire incident rate with batteries and optimizing their performance at the same time would be great to see.

Safety and innovation must go hand in hand in when it comes to energy storage system #ESS safety. It is important that we explore advancements to mitigate the risks associated with #thermalrunaway. 2025 could be the year when we redefine what is possible for both performance and protection.
