Vinyl of the day: Kinsman Dazz-Dazz, 1979. A fun R&B debut from the Cleveland group that would later be known as Dazz Band. Very danceable stuff and of course I’m a sucker for horns. My favorite tracks are I Searched Around, Love Design, and Can’t Get Enough.

I snuck in one summer through a door someone forgot to close all the way. It was surreal.

Vinyl of the day: Weezer-SZNZ “Winter”, 2022. My least favorite of the SZNZ EPs, by a decent margin. The final two tracks (Why Don’t You Get Me, and The Deep And Dreamless Sleep) are decent. I’d rate the 4 EPs:
1) Autumn
2) Spring
3) Summer
4) Winter

Vinyl of the day: Weezer-SZNZ “Autumn”, 2022. So far it’s the most diverse of the three SZNZ EPs I’ve listened to and right now I’d say tied with “Spring” for my favorite. What Happens After You?, Should She Stay Ir Should She Go, and The Way I Hate You Now are best.

Vinyl of the day: Weezer-SZNZ “Summer”, 2022. A little more aggressive sounding than the Spring EP, I enjoyed this one maybe a little more. The tracks were a little more diverse. Blue Like Jazz, The Opposite Of Me, and Records are my favorites.

These better be way colder than cool ranch.

Vinyl of the day: Weezer-SZNZ “Spring”, 2022. A fun EP of music meant to represent the “happy, chill” feeling of spring. It certainly delivers that, and although most tracks sound similar, this is short enough that if really doesn’t wear on you.

Vinyl of the day: Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers-Pack Up The Plantation Live!, 1985. A great set recorded over several concerts. Breakdown on side 1 is the highlight for me. Petty sings the first line, then lets the crowd sing two full verses. A cool moment. Many of their other hits are here too.

Vinyl of the day: The Animals, 1964. The British group’s first American release. Reached #7. A fine introduction to the the group’s dirty blues sound, it actually features several blues standards such as Around And Around, I’m Mad Again, and Chuck Berry’s Memphis, Tennessee.

Vinyl of the day: Roxy Music-Country Life, 1974. The group’s fourth album and the first to crack the top 40 in the US. I much prefer side one, particularly The Thrill Of It All, Three And Nine, and If It Takes All Night.

Have barely broken a sweat in Circa survivor through 9 weeks. That ends next week, as I’ve already used the 5 biggest probable favorites.

Vinyl of the day: Kool & The Gang, Wild And Peaceful, 1973. The group’s 6th album and likely their most popular. Contains 3 massive hits that are still heard today: Funky Stuff (#29), Jungle Boogie (#4), and Hollywood Swinging, which you hear in a New Balance commercial every ad break nowadays (#6).

Vinyl of the day: Various Artists-The Daisy Age, 2019. A compilation of hip hop songs from my favorite era and style, featuring mostly songs from the Native Tongues collective, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, and the Jungle Brothers, among many more.

Vinyl of the day: Miles Davis-Star People, 1983. The second album he released after a six year hiatus. The title track is a great blues effort but the rest, like most later Miles, is a little too fusion-y for me. I respect it, but it’s not for me.

I was in Boston 10 years ago and bought this shirt. Still among my favorites.

Vinyl of the day: Pet Shop Boys-Please, 1986. A top 5 new wave album for me. Contains the #1 hit West End Girls, and Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots Of Money), which reached #10. Every track on here is solid, though. A fantastic debut.

Vinyl of the day: Journey-Frontiers, 1983. Reached #2 behind 4 top 25 hits. (After The Fall, Send Her My Love, Faithfully, and Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)). I enjoy it top to bottom. One of the groups best efforts.

There’s a Regal Beagle bar crawl going on and everyone is dressed like Mr. Or Mrs. Roper and it’s amazing.

Vinyl of the day: Humble Pie-Smokin’, 1972. The first post-Frampton album from the English group. Reached #6. The slow blues jam I Wonder is my favorite. 30 Days Ago, and a fun cover of C’mom Everybody are solid too.

Vinyl of the day: J.J. Johnson Quartet- A Touch Of Satin, 1962. The brilliant trombonist features here with Victor Feldman on piano, Sam Jones on bass, and Lou Hayes on drums. They wade their way through a variety of standards including Satin Doll, Full Moon And Empty Arms, and Sophisticated Lady.
