Alexis Mercedes Rinck, the current most lefty Councilmember is getting re-elected in a landslide and currently leads Rachael Savage 79-25.5%. Stranger-endorsed Eddie Lin is beating Adonis Ducksworth 68.6-31%. This will be a significant leftward shift for the City Council in 2026.

I think Nelson misread the 2023 Council election. Yes voters elected more conservative candidates who aligned w/ Nelson & made her Council Prez. But those voters wanted work on public safety & homelessness, not for the new Council to try to undo existing progressive policy from the prior Council

City County President Sara Nelson has also (almost certainly) lost. Dionne Foster is beating her by 16% after the first count and that gap will likely grow in later counts.

Not surprisingly, Erika Evans has an enormous lead over incumbent Ann Davison and will be Seattle's next City Attorney, 62.5%-37%. There are many factors at play in that race, but you definitely can't get re-elected as a Republican in Seattle in 2025.

I’m going to continue being pretty MIA on here for a bit as I take a post-layoff breather (or maybe I’ll get sucked into election night posting). But I’ll be back at some point. Until then!

I’m staying in Seattle and my goal is absolutely to remain in journalism, though it’s slim pickings for staff jobs in our decimated media industry (now all-the-worse with the elimination of Cascade’s news operation).
