Dear Parent or Guardian, We are writing to inform you that the federal government has canceled funding for the Charting My Path for Future Success Project funded under the US Department of Education's Evaluation of Transition Support forYouth with Disabilities ContractNo. 91990019C0078. What happened? On February 10, 2025, the US Department of Education canceled research contracts with Spotsylvania County Public Schools as well as school districts across the Commonwealth and nation. We received notification at 10:19 p.m. on February 10, 2025, to immediately cancel anything supported by the Charting My Path for Future Success Project funding. The SCPS Charting My Path for Future Success Project provided instruction and support for our high school students with disabilities to help prepare for the transition from high school. The cancellation of this program impacts 91 SCPS students and five full-time instructors who were funded by the Charting My Path For Future Success program funding. What this means for your child: Your child will no longer receive the transition supports that were part of the federally-funded Charting My Path for Future Success Projct. Your child will continue to receive the district support that was provided to your child before they started participating in the Charting My

Notably, the companies that handle the appeals wildly vary in success rates for the appealer. Here is a chart of 2023 appeals showing an overturn rate varying from 9% to 50%, a huge range.
15 claims companies that handled appeals in 2023. Claims eval overturned only 9% while medical review institute overturned 50%, a huge difference. The other companies vary within that range (data available on request)

It's not just PT. All appeals that get to the third level (many people give up before this) can be found on the WA state website (fortress.wa.gov/oic/consumer...). Here's the number of appeals that made it to that level for the top companies that provide insurance in WA over time.

The number of appeals goes from about 600 in 2016 to 1000 in 2017, 2019 and 2021 but overall appears to be rising, with the maximum number in 2023 again at close to 1500.
