except maybe chicago or nyc. those are two great cities as well.

so if you're thinking of moving out of new orleans, dont. or move to lakeview or whatever to save money on rent but seriously, don't give up on that city. i regret leaving. and thats why we're doing everything we can to move back.

its so much worse everywhere else.

anytime i try to make a homie at a bar or something, they just act like im weird for being social. so now i dont even get afterwork beers at the bar. I actually stopped drinking lol. so i guess thats a net positive. but life for me here is just work -> home, repeat. thats it.

i made like 3 solid friends out here. but it was definitely rough. its a small city, everyones cliqued up. i was threatened once by some guy because he had me mixed into some rumor that ended up getting debunked. it was a wild story. me and the guy are cool now but yea. not good.

im in physical therapy now for my back. trying to shake back. my bosses havent been so gentle about my recovery process. they even alluded to me exaggerating my injury. shitty bosses are everywhere, i guess i really lucked up back home.

i feel like i came out here with alot to offer, but instead of opportunity to grow or maybe carve a lane out, i got met with opposition. the restaurant scene doesnt offer much, learning-wise. I actually sustained a back injury from this job because i work the hotline solo on the busiest nights.

there is no upward trajectory. my job treats me like an absolute workhorse. ive had my culinary ideas stolen and bastardized. im actually making less money than i did in New Orleans, so thank god my rent is somewhat slightly cheaper otherwise id be fucked.

i managed 900 a month by myself while paying my own bills and car insurance in New Orleans. yea i was scraping by, but i was happy. and my career was in an upward trajectory finally.

but life out here has been stagnant.

its only marginally cheaper to live in omaha compared to NO. i might save 2-300 dollars more every check but you lose culture, cuisine, a sense of living out your day fully, community, and living amongst people who just know how to have a good time and make a connection with.

its why its important to read and identify with an ideology. its hard to talk to someone who says they're leftist but have more right wing than left wing beliefs.

when they talk, they aim to defang rather than encourage a solidarity movement. you wanna change candidates rather than the system.

they think this site is some savior. its weird. they were all acting like they were personally victimized by right wingers on twitter.

but really, right wing accts were only really harassing communists/anarchists on twitter.

its wild that they dont realize themselves as kindred parties.
