It'll be better. Maybe not "good skier" better, but "more comfortable bad skier" better.

I think you're correct here. I'm also inclined to think that the Venn Diagram of your point, the death of nuance, and hyperbole as a primary means of communication, is almost a perfect circle.

Oh, 100%
November 26, 2025 at 12:21 PM
Sigh. Must’ve been.

Shit. I thought I first heard “no worries” from an Australian.

Have snorted both. Can confirm.

That’s awesome.

Summer associate (from a well-regarded NY law school) requested a paper check for his pay, made out to his mother if possible, as she tracked his finances.

One day during the week that one of the later Star Wars movies came out, the topic of George Lucas' screenwriting was discussed and someone mentioned the Harrison Ford quote "George, you can write this shit but you can't say it". Summer associate filed an HR complaint in defense of Mr. Lucas.

Can we do a "weird summer associate story" thread, please? My office mate decided that, since he'd never really had the opportunity to go out to fancy lunches/dinners before, he was going to order the most expensive thing on the menu every time he went out. Never saw him after that summer.

Some people know what they are.

Somewhere, there’s a staffer frantically calling every Home Depot, Marshalls, Hobby Lobby, and McDonald’s for real gold lettering so they can say that this is just a place-holder.

Also a fair point.
November 5, 2025 at 5:15 PM
I mean, he's probably right, but it's still beautiful.

Do you think that securing the ACA subsidies is still on the table as a resolution -- for Republicans? Just from reading what's been reported, it seems like Trump will throw a fit if the Rs do that. His view of success seems to be (A) Ds cave; or (B) Rs get rid of the filibuster.
November 5, 2025 at 5:08 PM
We've seen some shit, of course, but I think that actually might be the tackiest thing he's ever done.

They’ve got the rule wrong. You can’t offer discounts (or increase prices) for people USING COUPONS. People can’t use coupons because of the shutdown. They’re offering discounts to people ELIGIBLE for coupons.

Artificial flavor?
October 24, 2025 at 5:11 PM
He'd have been better off going with "that was all off the record".
October 21, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Wait. Just last month, Justice Gorsuch chastised lower courts (in a concurring opinion on the medical research grant case) specifically said that lower courts aren't free to disregard precedent, regardless of whether it came from a traditional proceeding or a shadow docket case.
October 12, 2025 at 7:33 PM
Oh, well that changes everything.
