Yes it can be nicer out there than sitting with a computer all day. Depends on the type of field work and when/where your research subject happens. Def not talking about regular continuous farm work.

Speculating here, and from personal experience: perhaps the long hours sitting with the computer is not good for the mind and body. Especially knowing it's much nicer out there in the field.
