I also therefore see the article as a small contribution to the phenomenal achievement of history teachers in building a coherent, generative and codified body of professional knowledge over decades. 4/5

In celebration of TH's 200th edition, the article tries to live up to the publication's best traditions. We adopt a cautious criticality to a problem of practice in the classroom - acknowledging, celebrating and building on both the triumphs and ground-clearing done by history teachers before us.3/5

In particular, we acknowledge, explore and attempt to mitigate some of history teachers’ commonly stated concerns about stories. We aimed to reconcile captivating narrative, disciplinary integrity and curricular representativeness - not wholly successfully! 2/5
