The sand goes everywhere, the room cannot contain it. I’m having flashbacks from skimming/sanding my daughter’s room after removing ancient wallpaper. Best of luck with the rest!

I am from the Midwest and I exclusively use the subway when I am NYC. I have never felt unsafe as a woman. I just keep my eyes open and make sure I am aware of my surroundings.
