Talarico: if you read the new testament, Jesus doesn't spend most of his time preaching or teaching or even praying. He spends most of his time healing the sick.

Right now, we have politicians in congress with Christ follower in their Twitter bio, but they are kicking the sick off their health care

I’m still 😱 about the WH ignoring Juneteenth. Growing up in Texas 50 years ago, Juneteenth was always a really big deal. It is neither recent nor “woke”; it is a 135-years old celebration of emancipation - so far as I know, the only one the US has. The message couldn’t be clearer.

Do you recall when local newspapers carried stories about serious auto wrecks you might see on the streets? Ever wonder why you don’t anymore? Pressure from auto advertisers was a big part of it. Granted, not much if the industry left now, but it was never liberal.

@lizdye.bsky.social knows how to handle a phrase. Love it when she just calls an asshole an asshole; see, e.g., her 5/30 ATL blog. Journalistic professionalism is killing me with moderation while I want to scream, “WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!” Liz Dye screams with me.

I hate to be so stupid, but - What is the goal of DT’s chaos? Is he profiting from his control of the markets? Is it for nothing but the power itself? I can neither detect nor imagine a coherent political goal in any of this. Clearly no interest in government having less power. So what is the goal?

So - Odds on DT just deciding the government can take it away from Harvard? Compensated by the purchase price, of course.

Harvard learned it has an authentic Magna Carta. In 1946, it paid less than $28 for it
A pair of U.K. scholars discovered the mislabeled document in Harvard Law School's digital archives. The university bought it for just $27.50 in 1946. It turned out to be an authentic copy dating to ...

“While the technology is still being tested, it could help with everything from management of chronic pain to monitoring the brain activity of students and criminal suspects.” I find it curious (though intriguing) to links students with criminal suspects!

2/2 Therefore, query: What is the correct response from the press when the government purports to dictate terminology and eliminate press access to those who refuse to comply?

(I don’t know the answer, it’s a genuine question to journalists, a group to which I once proudly belonged.)

“America has long been the global leader in scientific output, but by various meadures China is now surging ahead.” Dhruv Khullar, The New Yorker. Recent federal cuts to research funding exacerbate this. Don’t think tariffs can fix it.
