As you noted, fans whine about Luke having doubts in himself & the Force in VIII. By contrast, Solo takes the wisecracking bad boy who learned to care about something bigger and insists he actually began with a heart of gold and just reverted. He didn't learn or grow through friendship, he regressed

I would argue that Solo was an even worse offender than IX.

Unnecessary origins of Han Solo's name, blaster, friendships with Chewie and Lando, ownership of the Falcon, the Kessel Run, his cynical self-interested attitude... And then Maul pops up as the cherry on the sundae

I care about civil rights. I've been an NYCLU supporter.

Why exactly are you advocating for a cold blooded murderer? You can't point out issues with the city govt without lionizing a killer? Seriously?

Actually, they are opposing him now. They posted statements criticizing the appointment on all of their socials before you posted this

I think it's so cool that we elected a guy who would stop sanctioning violent settlers. With the help of anti-Israel activists, naturally

Thomas wrote in his Dobbs concurrence that Obergefell is on the chopping block. You wanna bet on how ACB or Alito feel?

He, of course, also listed Griswold v CT (contraception) and Lawrence v TV (sodomy)

But we should assume they've actually dropped these hobby horses?

Vance opposed the Respect for Marriage Act two (2!) years ago

"Asked about same-sex marriage, Vance has pointed to the position of the Catholic church, which officially opposes it"
www.cleveland.com/election/202...

AG nom Pam Bondi called gay marriage a "serious public harm" in '14. No pivot since
Abortion, immigration and democracy: How do U.S. Senate candidates J.D. Vance and Tim Ryan compare on the issues?
Both Vance and Ryan are running to replace Republican Sen. Rob Portman, who is retiring at the end of the year.

I mean... They spoke out of both sides of their mouth on every one of these issues. By definition, they lied. Did they lie about plans to cut these programs and encroach upon these rights? Or did they lie about protecting them? This remains to be seen. But they said both things on all of them.

Elected Republicans + judicial conservatives still oppose gay marriage, want to kill Social Security & Medicare, and hope to ban abortion.

Trump famously *did not* say he'd veto an abortion ban. He wouldn't say how he'd vote on the FL abortion referendum.

They pretend they pivoted. They have not.
November 24, 2024 at 7:10 PM
Vance, in the VP debate, told an emotional story about a friend who needed an abortion. He said Republicans had to win back trust on the issue. He denied supporting an abortion ban, which he has. And then... He didn't say the admin would oppose an abortion ban! It was all lying and tap dancing.
