My next #DrunkOnGeology post is for the Yellowstone Wine from Rutherford Wine Company. On the bottle is a painting of the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River, which occur within a 480,000 year old volcanic eruption known as the …

My next #100GreatestBook is Perfume by Patrick Süskind. An interesting book about a sociopath with an exceptional smelling ability. This was an enjoyable read and I enjoyed how he examined how smells influence our lives, but it wasn’t “greatest book” worthy.

Wall update. I don’t know how much more I’ll get done this season but currently the uppermost wall has all the capstones cut and glued in. The top step is fully cut but not glued in yet. And most of the ledge has been cleaned out. Still lots of cap stone work left to do. #backyardmakeover

Book #193 of #100GreatestBooks: Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh. A non-existent mystery is set up in the prologue and it contains several interesting characters that get just forgotten about. A well written story but one I had much higher expectation for.

Next up on my #Geology of the National Parks Through Pictures is #Yellowstone National Park. DYK that Yellowstone is a hotspot volcano and one of the largest volcanoes on the planet.

Don’t mind the giant pile of dirt but the stairs/wall has finally reached the top! Now to work my way down finishing up the wall and adding capstones and steps. Also cleaning up lots of dirt. #backyardmakeover #poolinstallation

Now that my winter project is done I can move on to my summer project, the never ending pool wall. The last 2 days I spent digging out the upper wall from the winter dirt collapse and just concreted in another set of steps today. #backyardmakeover #poolinstallations #diyprojects

I designed a shirt based on Mary Anning’s seminal plesiosaur drawing. The plesiosaur wraps across the front of the baseball jersey and is designed to work with the shirt either buttoned up or open. Mary’s signature is then splayed across the back.

Jumping back to some of my science writings, I have my next entry for my “Dinosaurs!: From Cultural to Pop Culture” series. This time is distinctly NOT a dinosaur, however it is a very significant paleontological event that it needed to be included…

My next #100GreatestBook Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Rushdie is a melding of Rushdie’s style with Lewis Carol and Dr Seuss and not for the betterment of the story. I imagine this was included because they didn’t want to include Rushdie’s more popular work.

Workout room update: I had built 2 custom closet doors with hidden slider systems so that they will slide back and forth without any hardware showing. The wife also wanted them to look like acoustic panels so I custom built those as well. #homerenovations #homeremodel #basementremodel

My next #100Greatestbooks is #191 - Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie. A view of India’s independence with a fantasy lens. Overall it left me a little unfulfilled but I think that was purposeful. I did rather enjoy Rushdie’s writing style. A recommend.
