Great interview by @niemanlab.org with @molly.wiki, an independent journalist focusing on how cryptocurrency industry spending is influencing politics: www.niemanlab.org/2025/08/inde...

The crypto industry spent more on 2024 elections in the United States than the oil or pharmaceutical industries.

I wonder if there's any good methodology for estimating what % of a social platform's "Monthly Active Users" # that they report to investors is just outright fraud from intentionally de-prioritizing spam account prevention.

Boston's actual geographic bounds make the strict residency requirement for all city jobs absurd.

A Brighton (neighborhood) resident is eligible; a Brookline (town) resident—geographically BETWEEN Brighton and Boston—is not. 🤦‍♂️

Cambridge & Somerville right next door? Sorry, not allowed. #BostonMA

Bluesky gives a lot of visibility to full reply chains. A real pain when weird obsessives try to hijack by replying to every. single. comment. @support.bsky.team please reduce the visibility of this kind of crap.

In the meantime, friendly reminder we can all block bad-faith spammers like this.

Went to a social meetup for a walk around Beacon Hill.

After seeing house after house with tasteful arrangements of decorative gourds, really enjoyed seeing this guy as the sole decoration on one stoop. 😆

Great weather in Somerville today so I took a walk to the Tufts library roof for some sunset views.

Picked up some Shipyard Pumpkinhead on the way back; what a great season. 😄🍁🍻 #Boston #Sunset #MAbeer

Loving the new #Gastronauts show from #Dropout.

Comedians coming up with cooking challenges for professional chefs? Ridiculously creative food + funny heckles? Yes please.

Hope this runs for for as long as Chopped so someday I can binge watch while I binge eat. 😆

Love this: baystatebanner.com/2024/08/21/c... #BostonMA

New public art installation is hiding "climate monsters" in viewfinders to surprise tourists outside the Boston Children's Museum.

It's actually less prank-y and more educational / next-generation empowering; kid-friendly opening on Saturday.

Changed my Gmail "undo send" time from 5 to 20 seconds.

Gotta give myself a longer window as I get older, my reaction time's slowing down. 😅

Want to give a quick shout-out to StickerGiant.com - if you're looking for custom sticker printing, I recommend them.

Great values, great quality. Back when I was organizing events for the Boston tech scene, they supported as a sponsor for many years.

Art vendors, live music, dance performances, fair food... always a good time.

Watched the premiere of Dropout's new show, Thousandaires, in a "live viewing" with a bunch of other people in a Dropout fan Discord.

Really fun way to enjoy a show like this. I love the community Dropout has around it.

Watched the new Fallout series and it was good! I was worried about them pulling off Fallout's unique mix of dark and sometimes zany humor while keeping the groundedness of live action, but they did it well.

There's nitpicks for sure. But the writing and character development were great!

👀 Nice day in Somerville tomorrow?

Loving the snow in Somerville (and the hot chocolate inside Diesel Cafe) today.

Davis Square in Somerville is getting a new bookstore! www.instagram.com/narrativeboo...

This is great; I've been wanting something different in the area for over a decade (though Porter Square Books has grown on me a lot).

Grand opening in February it sounds like. Looking forward to it!

Maple bacon slice from Dragon Pizza in Somerville. Massive and delicious. 😄

I tried Stoked, a spot on Mass Ave outside Harvard Square in Cambridge. Decent pizza, great carrot cake (not shown but it was a big slice 😄).

I was focused on my book, but that outdoor seating seems like a good evening people watching spot.
