Addendum: Root of the issue seems to be confusing the partnership and subsequent tech integration between Domo(etc) and Discord with the actual Discord apps that these AI companies have made in the Discord app directory. Banning third party apps does not disable core product partner integrations.

Yeah, someone can also just take someone else's image from Discord and shove it in ChatGPT or whatever if they're going to be a dick, the Discord options just make it slightly more convenient. Also, banning the ID doesn't remove the options you're talking about.

And the number of risks/trade-offs Discord would have to make in order to specifically circumvent their OWN SYSTEM and secretly add apps to servers vs. just telling people they were doing about the 'cool new AI feature on their platform' like everybody else makes no logical sense. [4/4]

Just as with any other Discord app, someone with appropriate permissions on the server in question must explicitly invite the AI apps to join the server in order for those apps to be present and have access to server content. [3/4]

This is true of quite literally any app in Discord's database -- so long as you have the App ID string, if you run that command, the app will be banned even if it was never part of your server to begin with. [2/4]

As some have also implied, you can ban any app that is not and has never have been part of your server so long as you have the app ID string.

It's fine to pre-emptively ban, but the implication that AI apps have been secretly added to all servers is not the right information to give people.
