Today is Charles Portis’s birthday, and here’s an appropriate bit of ephemera from his archive, recently acquired by the Wittliff Collections at Texas State U. In San Marcos: a receipt for one night ($7) at the Park ‘n Sleep Motel in Tampa, 1969.
