What is a Finnish style larp? Our larp is a story driven immersive experience with fully pre-written characters that include 5-15 pages of backstory, an agenda, and meaningful connections to other characters. Respect the material: play for the objectives set in the character as well as the pre-written connections. The characters and their relationships are the beating heart of this larp. Make the character your own by emphasizing the aspects you most enjoy playing and calibrate connections with other players. Play inclusively by including others in your plots. Read through briefs and work descriptions to get the most out of the world! -> Have you played a larp of this style before? Basics, safety and accessibility Our aim is to be as accessible and inclusive as possible. Due to the complexity of the game environment, and depending on your needs, some characters, tasks and limited areas may be less accessible than others. All main rooms will be easily reached in a wheelchair. Ingame time: 48 hours non-stop Meals: all meals included and dietary needs considered Sleeping: ingame in bunk-beds/single beds, shared mix-gender rooms - also offgame Physical and emotional safety: our participants are always the priority! Discrimination: Not tolerated! Inequality based on ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation does not exist in the game world. -> What makes a larp accessible or safe for you? How could we prepare? Clockwork: The game runs like a train on rails This larp is not a sandbox, but it is the sum of the individual stories of 104 characters and the ways players choose to play them. The core clockwork element of the larp is making a jump in space every 2 hours and 47 minutes for the entire 48-hour game duration, day and night. In order to do this, the crew needs to complete their tasks: the officers and bridge crew, pilots, marines, engineers, medics, and scientists all do their part. Other kinds of experiences to be had: civilian politics and survival stories, the emotional experience of a world-ending catastrophe, rebuilding the society and the government. Politicians, religious characters and some Velians will be very involved in steering the plot and making final decisions while others focus on community or their personal plots. -> What would be most interesting for you to play? Is any larp a product? Odysseus is a fully operational and immersive starship that invites you to an adventure like no other. As in all adventures, what really matters is the company you keep, and at the core of larp is the community. All larps are collaborative projects and experiences created together by organizers and players. While Odysseus is one of the more expensive larps out there and we do aim for it to be professionally made, it is not, and it never can be, a product. Don’t join us as customers but as participants: co-create this awesome experience together with us. Transparency is important to us: We will pay moderate wages to our team in order to make this larp possible. At the end of the day we are still all doing this out of love and passion for larp.

Q: Why run Odysseus as a company?
A: It’s complicated, but it’s a mix of IP rights, sustainability and financial security. However, we’re not in this for profits. Odysseus will always be a passion project by larpers for larpers, and we won’t simplify the experience to reach a bigger audience.

This past weekend I got to play Eclipse - A New Home, a scifi larp by Chaos League. It was an amazing, immersive and gut-wrenching experience, easily among the best larps of my life so far. ❤️

Osa suomalaisista on niin syvällä kieltäymyksessä Israelin rikosten suhteen, että vaikka Mossadin agentti ampuisi Palestiina-aktivistin keskellä päivää Helsingissä, he olisivat sitä mieltä että aktivisti provosoi, Israelilla on oikeus itsepuolustukseen plus aktivistin repussa oli Hamasin tunneli.
