…when it actually exits from the left lane approx 200 metres up the road. Inexplicable to me how this got installed, only last year according to streetview. Suppose it’ll more than likely be coming down soon enough though.

There is a lot of pretty questionable signage around here. This is the worst one imo, although it’s obviously redundant now: just before the Gateshead Highway coming from the Tyne Bridge, there’s lane signage which says to keep right for the flyover (ie for Birtley A167)

Should be a mix of both. Covert enforcement to incentivise safe speeds all over, visible enforcement for a blanket reduction at blackspots. Fixed cameras are better suited for the latter though as they operate 24/7 without taking up finite resources.

Just awaiting the line being taken over by Nexus now. Which is what should have happened in the first place.

As a local what you say about it being a detriment to the area is undoubtedly true… but otoh, sailing down this thing towards the Tyne Bridge with a panorama of the river and the city lights ahead is 60 seconds of pure joy and if it gets torn down part of me is very sad never to experience it again
