“One study estimated that if PEPFAR were to end, as many as 600,000 lives would be lost over the next decade in South Africa alone.”

Reminder: Musk is an Apartheid nepo baby.

Ordering organizations not to distribute life-saving drugs that they already have on their shelves feels like genocide.
The Trump administration instructed organizations in other countries to stop disbursing HIV medications purchased with U.S. aid, even if the drugs have already been obtained and are sitting in local clinics.

PEPFAR’s computer systems also are being taken offline, a sign that the program may not return, as Republican critics had hoped.

We watched Anora last night and I loved it! Sean Baker is my new favorite director! He’s my new Todd Solondz. I loved Tangerine, The Florida Project, and now add Anora to the list. It’s kinda like Pretty Woman meets Kids meets The Daytrippers. It’s awesome and the acting is phenomenal!

Watching Facts of Life on Logo (instead of the inauguration), and—OMG—Jean Smart is excellent in the very special latchkey kid episode.

Over in IG, someone cloned my niece’s profile and contacted me pretending to be her and asking me for money. I reported the fraud. Meta informed me today that the cloned account didn’t violate community standards. There was no way to reply and explain the situation. Not that they would care anyway.

I want to get in the habit of using this space instead of MAGA—I mean Meta. So here’s a pic of Shaggy for practice.

Last week, we saw the high school play at Lab. It was very ambitious! They did Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses w/ a wading pool on the stage! It’s tough to pull off (it’s a series of Greek myths) but I was really moved by the final scenes about love and showing kindness to the outcast.

I never did Twitter, even before it was turned into a misinformation machine. But I’ve heard great things about this platform, so let’s give it a whirl.
