A Spartan in the UP of Michigan figuring things out. Hubby, dad, love to be outside, politically perplexed.
I wrote a letter to my congressman (Jack Bergman-R in the UP) expressing my concern about the Canada/Mexico tariffs. He responded that he would consider my concerns if any legislation came before him. What kind of reactive bullshit is that? Shouldn’t a Representative be Proactive?

The UP is cold and snowy. Wild turkey are trying to stay warm. Interesting: during the winter, they form a giant pack and then when the weather is better and food is plentiful, they break off into smaller groups. The next 4 years is kind of our winter, so let’s stick together, eh?

Happy Thanksgiving, Bluesky! I am really excited for some Lions football and turkey. The best part of the day: more snow is coming!

Reading the news with morning coffee is not easing into the day like it used to be. I can feel my blood pressure rising with each article. I think it’s time for a solid morning workout before hitting the weekend chores.

The peace of a Sunday morning in the middle of nowhere cannot be overlooked. The birds and squirrels don’t really care about politics. The turkey, though, I’m 100% sure they’re up to something.

A nice view this morning! It started me thinking: we all share that view. We’re more alike than not. My conservative neighbors want to protect their way of life, but someone sold them on the idea that the left is attacking that rather than protecting them. We have to show them otherwise, but how?

5am is the best. The woods are teeming with nightlife scurrying home, the moon and stars happily light the way, my mind is clear and focused, and the worries of the world haven’t crept into my consciousness yet. There will be time for that later.
