A simplistic sketch comic using a quote from Maya Angelou as its dialogue. An artist sits at her desk, and his editor sits off to the side on an elaborate fainting couch. The quote is: I’ve had the same editor since 1967. Many times he has said to me over the years or asked me, Why would you use a semicolon instead of a colon? And many times over the years I have said to him things like: I will never speak to you again. Forever. Goodbye. That is it. Thank you very much. And I leave. Then I read the piece and I think of his suggestions. I send him a telegram that says, OK, so you’re right. So what? Don’t ever mention this to me again. If you do, I will never speak to you again.

Starting this page strong with a project I wrapped up a couple weeks ago. 5 piece jewelry collection & a playable box to stash it in!

The earrings and cuff links are inspired by a Senet board set discovered in the tomb of Amenhotep III, and the rest of the collection is inspired by the Royal Game of Ur. A tile pattern on the lid of the box is arranged so that two people could play the Royal Game while engaging with the jewelry that would otherwise be inside the box. A top-down view of the lid of the jewelry box, where blue squares of shrinky dink film are arranged to make the Royal Game Of Ur. Metal loops of various sizes are set on the lid to indicate how the game is played. A skewed angle photograph of the blue box on a jewelers bench, showing off an Ancient Egyptian-style side panel illustration. The burnt illustration shows a hand reaching for a board game, with the name Senet etched in hieroglyphs above it alongside other visual motifs from Senet boards.
