The nation was still in shock by the time NFL Sunday rolled around on Sept. 16, 2001. NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue made the unprecedented decision to delay games a week. When the NFL returned on 9/23/01, George Teague led the Cowboys onto the field (vs San Diego Chargers).

Iconic image of NY firefighters lifting up the flag at Ground Zero in the days after the 9/11 attacks.

External photos of emergency response at the Pentagon. So much was happening. It was too much for my senses to absorb. Overwhelming.

9/11/01--The Twin Towers in NY. An image that we who lived through the time will never forget.

Boy, I can say as a lifelong moderate rural Texas Democrat...

...this really tells the story.

Another great view of Downtown Dallas from Split Image photography.

RIP Malcolm Jamal Warner. I remember when a friend about a year older than me drowned in high school. Tragic. RIP

As cool as the other side of the pillow, as Stuart Scott would say. Obama was unflappable. That's opposite of me, I can get rattled. I'm glad he was in charge. Did I agree with him on everything? No. But I voted for him twice and I'm dang glad I did.

Jim Spencer--he's a Central Texas meteorologist, and formerly the lead guy on KXAN, local NBC affiliate out of Austin. Watched him for a long time. If he speaks on something like this, then I believe it.

Dukes was an anchor of my childhood. Rick was brilliant in his role as the comic deputy for this family show. I'm told he was a total gentleman. RIP Rick. You were a treasure and you will be missed.

Well, we know what Trump's motivations are. He projects his own intentions. SMH

Recognizing most former Presidents. Not the current occupant.

Posted these pics in different arrangements yesterday. Presidents I trust and value more than the current occupant of the Oval Office.

Tons of respect for Pres. Obama. Like Stuart Scott would say, as cool as the other side of the pillow. Kept his cool in tight spots, which I loved, because I get nervous in tight spots. Slept well when head hit the pillow knowing he was on watch.

I love the fact that these two formed a friendship after their presidencies. I disagreed with GW Bush (as much as a Junior High or High School student could, I guess), but I could respect him, both for his service in the Navy and as President.

Recognizing *other* Presidents around the birthday of the so-called "President" now occupying the Oval Office.
