"We have sold our birthright for a ticket to the freak show."
"Elon was wearing thin, I asked him to leave."
Trump is treating Musk like another old trophy wife to be discarded. In fact, if Elon isn't careful he could end up buried on a golf course in New Jersey.

In a press release last week, the Trump Dept of Justice bragged that the sentencing of Scott Jenkins, a Virginia county sheriff convicted of selling sheriff's badges, demonstrates that it will not tolerate corruption in law enforcement.
Today, Trump announced he had pardoned Jenkins.

On the day it's confirmed the Trump regime will pay $5 million to the family of violent insurrectionist Ashli Babbitt, it charges a member of Congress with "assault," warning it'll do the same if "any person, regardless of political party, influence or status, assaults a law enforcement officer."

Again, Trump has total control of the DoJ. He could immediately order Kash Patel and Pam Bondi to launch a major criminal investigation into who "STOLE AND RIGGED THE 2020 ELECTION!!!!"

Yet he studiously avoids doing so, and someone should ask him why.

Someone should call his bluff.

In a 7-2 opinion, the Supreme Court has ordered the Trump regime to cease deportations under the Alien Enemies Act.

Donald is not taking it well.

This makes the cult of personality official.

Let's say the Qatar deal goes through:
On what basis can an outgoing president then transfer a $400 million asset of the federal government, an asset that still has a long, usable lifespan, to his own foundation for his own personal post-presidential use?
Why not take Yellowstone National Park too?

It's a grand slam when the bases are loaded, not when the nominee is loaded.

If I look back, trying to find early signs of where our politics in general were headed, and more specifically where the GOP has headed, I remember the 2004 GOP convention, where floor delegates wore fake bandages taunting John Kerry's military service and Purple Hearts.
Party over country.

Only a fool would think that Marjorie Taylor Greene could win a statewide race in Georgia for the U.S. Senate.
Ladies and gentlemen, here is that fool:

Again, if Trump honestly believes the 2020 election was stolen, he could sign an executive order today directing the DoJ and FBI to launch a huge investigation into how it was done and by whom.
He orders a lot of shit, but not that. Why?
There is only one logical answer.

If we could put a tariff on stupidity, Trump would be bankrupt in a week.

You can tell it isn't real: The hands are much too big:

It's interesting how the Trump regime professes to have no concern at all about human rights violations by other countries, none of our business, EXCEPT when the alleged victims are neo-fascists. Then they're all over it.

Again, if Democrats want to reach rural and lower-income voters, this would be a powerful way to do so.

The markets are forward-thinking. They don't go down because of what happened in the past. They go down because of what investors expect to happen in the future.
The economy grew by 2.4% in the last quarter of 2024. It shrank by .3% in the 1st quarter of '25.
I wonder what changed?

The unanimous ruling by the 4th Circuit demands the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, but it also pleads with the Trump regime to avoid the constitutional crisis it seems determined to provoke.
"The Executive will lose much from a public perception of its lawlessness," it warns.

My wife was watching "Pride & Prejudice" last night, and I stuck around just to watch that great final scene with Donald Sutherland as he comes to grips with the fact that his two favorite daughters are being married off.
As a father of two daughters, that one always gets me.

My daughter and a neighbor kid used to play a version of "Oregon Trail" in which they tried to kill everyone off as soon as possible. They thought it was hilarious.
Our political leadership seems to be trying something similar.

The man in the portrait above Zelensky is John Adams, whom the colonies sent to beg France for aid in our war for independence.
The French, Adams complained, were willing to give enough aid "to prevent us from drowning, but not to lift our heads out of water."
He'd be so ashamed. We all should be.

Trump claims credit for the arrest of Mexican drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero, claiming "the previous administration allowed these criminals to run free."
Caro Quintero was captured in Mexico in 2022, after the Biden administration put immense pressure on the Mexican gov't to do so.

These DOGE idiots are running amok in the federal government breaking stuff before they even understand what function it might serve. It's like amateur house-flippers taking sledgehammers to load-bearing walls, then wondering why the roof collapsed.
