I think the issue is that the ACA subsidy issue is likely equally important and only slightly less immediate than SNAP, and "getting a promise of a vote" is essentially sacrificing that to keep SNAP going for a couple months, at which point I expect we'll do this all over again

Hopefully someone there wakes up before the vote and blocks it

If I'm the GOP, my immediate messaging will be that the dems held up reopening for nothing. They likely should (and likely will) hammer this point to shift blame.

Also, the GOP now knows they can hold the dems hostage by doing shit like this, so good luck next year in the US

I dont think the average person realizes how devestating effextively sacrificing the ACA subsidies will be for a large % of the population. That vote will 100% kill them and medically bankrupt millions
