9 cyber charter schools in Pa. sent a letter to lawmakers today saying they "will be forced to either close or ... drastically alter" their programs if provisions of HB1500 are included in the state budget.

Hey @SenatorMartinPA , I saw your comments on PA cannabis legalization. PA isn’t just missing out on revenue to its neighboring states, it’s missing a chance to make legal, regulated, age-restricted access the standard. Saying “no” leaves the door open for cartels and illicit players to fill the gap with zero safety or age protections. Let’s prioritize health and public safety and give Pennsylvanians the freedom to make their own choices. "It is hard to take @LancasterOnline seriously when they’re more interested in amplifying protest theatrics than covering the real work we do for Lancaster and York County families every day. Their recent article about how my staff meets with constituents on a weekly basis is bizarre—they meet with my office staff every week, but they say they can’t get in touch with me? The implicit bias of LNP is clear in their print and digital headlines. Their latest article lays out the exact reason why I do not do in-person town halls. Organizations like Indivisible have a playbook for intentionally disrupting public events. As I have said for years, I am interested in having productive conversations. I do that routinely meeting constituents one-on-one, in small groups, through telephone town halls, visits across the community, and more. Having a productive conversation is impossible when there are individuals who intend to disrupt the event. Public discourse is done a disservice with these antics. And leave it to Opinion Editor Suzanne Cassidy and the other avowed progressive liberals of the Editorial Board to ignore how the One Big Beautiful Bill finds over ONE TRILLION DOLLARS in SAVINGS—the greatest amount achieved in our nation’s history for a reconciliation bill. We achieve those savings by rooting out fraud, waste, and abuse of programs like Medicaid and SNAP, preserving the programs for those truly in need. The bill also advances the priorities that the American people care about—low taxes, border security, unleashing American energy, and providing for a strong national defense. Talk about out of touch. U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker, vice-chair of the House Budget Committee, flipped to a "yes" vote today on the budget resolution after saying on the floor yesterday he would "not be able to support this bill."

Smucker's full statement here:
“My top priority throughout the budget reconciliation process has been to deliver on the mandate that the American people delivered in November—extending tax relief for hardworking families and small businesses, securing our border, unleashing American energy dominance, and achieving peace through strength. Every Republican in the House believes that it is critical that we move forward on these priorities as quickly as possible. Today’s vote unlocks our ability to advance to the next stage of the process. I have also always made it clear that we must craft the final reconciliation bill in a fiscally responsible way, without saddling future generations of Americans with even more debt. I voted yes on the budget resolution after we received firm commitments from President Trump, Speaker Johnson, House Majority Leader Scalise, and Senate Majority Leader Thune that the final “One Big, Beautiful Bill” will reflect the same fiscally disciplined approach outlined in the House’s budget resolution. House Budget Committee Vice Chair Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) said he will not support the Senate's budget resolution. Smucker also sits on the Ways and Means Committee.
“The Senate’s passage of the amended House resolution is a critical step forward. However, with $5.8 trillion in costs and only $4 billion required savings in their instructions, I cannot vote for it. We can and must do better. Let’s come together next week to craft a fiscally responsible solution.”

Malone reported four contributions, pushing his total fundraising to $172,491.

The PA Dems, notably, gave him $18,873 yesterday.

State Sen. Ryan Aument will officially resign on Dec. 31, according to a letter he sent Pres. Pro Temp. Kim War today. That means we should have a special election date to replace him by Jan. 10.
