I feel in most cases there would be more damage to infrastructure like stadiums but this mainly focuses on affecting how sport is played and impacted by the environment.

Surprisingly there was very little to no cost in damage as there organization renovated the stadium so it could better withstand environment such as hurricanes. There wasn't any information found about what it cost to delay the game.

Wow, imagine if they would of put a little more money and time into it to see the potential benefits. Defintley could have been used for bringing in more tourism through events like concerts or other sports.

One discussion we had in class was about the environment affecting sports and how sports are played and viewed. One example of this was back in 2017 when a NFL game in Miami, Florida was canceled and moved later in the season due to the dangers of Hurricane Irma.

A clear example of the sports media nexus was the sport and media deal between TSN and the Canadian Football League back in 2019 involving 50 million dollars. It is a example of providing rights and a partnership in terms of growing the fan base

On March 10, 2025 Florida panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad violated the NHL performance performance enhancing substance program where he was suspended for 20 games. This is an example of negative deviance in sport where he gets caught using PEDs which are illegal in NHL. www.cbc.ca/sports/hocke...

Lori Locust was hired as the first full-time female coach in the NFL for the Tennesee Titans in 2023 for defensive quality control and has coached for a couple of teams. This challenges gender norms in sport since typically coaches that are hired in NFL are male. www.nytimes.com/athletic/585...

Willie O'Ree was a professional Canadian hockey player who played in the NHL. He became the first Black hockey player to play in the NHL. He dealt with racism while playing hockey and fans would shout racial remarks at him all the time.

I think that using my sociological imagination, I could see myself working full time as an occupational therapist while still participating in some sort of rec sport with freinds when I have time aside from work. I would also see myself getting a workout or a run in early each day to keep active.

I think that to define a sport it should first be organized where there are set rules. Competitiveness and enjoyment where everyone is competing and having a good time is another way of defining a sport in my opinion. I also believe skill like individual or team skill plays a big part into this.
