After many years I use a serial connection again. I had to debug it a bit to successfully connect HP-48GX to my laptop.

Back in the 90s, life was clearly calmer - the HP-48GX maxed out at a modest 9600bps over serial link. And somehow, that was more than enough.

My MCP server for Home Assistant is finally working properly, thanks to massive support from Claude Desktop. Now I can use an n8n AI agent to control my home devices with my voice through a Shortcut on my iPhone. github.com/jrydval/MCP-...

I got an HP-28S with a malfunctioning keyboard. So I opened it and managed to fix it successfully. Now I just need to reassemble it again. Not a big deal - but unfortunately, the keyboard has lost its classic HP clickiness 😒 I’m looking for a way to get that clickiness back.

I got an HP-28S with a malfunctioning keyboard. So I opened it and managed to fix it successfully. Now I just need to reassemble it again. Not a big deal - but unfortunately, the keyboard has lost its classic HP clickiness 😒 I’m looking for a way to get that clickiness back.
Imagine a processor that addresses 1M nibbles. Yes—nibbles, 4-bit memory “slots.” Its instructions are 5–15 nibbles long (20–60 bits) and optimized for calculators. And the HP-28C with such a processor in the photo had 2 KB RAM, yet could do symbolic math and graphs!

A calculator where numbers, lists, arrays and programs and expressions are first-class citizens and can be stored in a variable and manipulated? HP-28S, this one from 1989! Even more fun than with well-known HP-41CX.

Hledal jsem stroj, na kterém bychom mohli hrát hry pro "fantasy console" PICO-8. Je to nejen herní engine, ale i vývojový nástroj v jednom. Aplikace (tedy hlavně hry) se píší v Lua. Za těch pár babek to super soft! A Powkiddy RGB30 a ovladač 8BitDo Zero2 se k hraní fakt hodí skvěle.
