I love this song so much. Listened to it as a teenager just dreaming about the world. And now it's burning both figuratively and literally... and still I feel some sense of hope.

It's not worth listening to anyone who refused to vote blue this election. They aren't leftists they're just larpers using activism as an aesthetic. Their inaction saved no lives—it simply helped a rapist get into power. And now far more innocent lives will be lost because of it.

I heard it growing up and to this day it remains the only song from them I like. Everything about it is hypnotic. I could write an essay on how much every lyric means to me. There's a pretty cool alternate version as well.

It's crazy how much closer this feels to Twitter as I remember it being around 2017. So much less noise. I forgot what it was like to see real, empathetic human beings down in the replies.

Trump remains the only US president to ever pressure a social media company to remove negative posts about him. He suggested US citizens who burn our flag be deported. Leading up to J6, he setup fake slates of electors in 7 states to overturn our election, effectively silencing votes against him.

That would've sucked if someone took something you owned without compensating you in some way.

I think Marc Laidlaw has said as much in recent interviews. Half-Life always felt like an amusement park of really cool ideas that never went anywhere. It's a world the writers clearly felt very passionate about, but were unable to fully realize due to the comical constraints of the genre.
