Eyes on South King County and Seattle. Luddite, shared street, existence is resistance, direct action, dialectical urbanism, buses, trains 🚂 🚌 🌲

Building a slip lane where one didn’t used to exist thanks to the light rail station.

Instead of building a new 5 story apartment in a single family neighborhood they are going to graze an existing 3 story apartment.

Jackson St is an SDOT policy failure. Cement trucks use it to Rat Run to Hwy 99. Such a missed opportunity for a mode filter.
October 16, 2025 at 4:30 PM
No mention of this, pretty much a puff piece.
October 15, 2025 at 4:07 AM
I guess I’ll give some credit to SDOT for this spot improvement but it’s still laughable there is no bike lane to Sounder entrance and yeah Jackson is calling out to be mode filter.
October 12, 2025 at 12:14 AM
I wonder why transit casuals keep getting Sounder and Link mixed up 🤔

Meanwhile on our state highways….

Just a brand new slip lane, totally unnecessary under the soon to open Federal Way Link Station

This apartment complex in Kent on Veterans Way and Military Road has to be the worst. It is on an uphill freight route which semi trucks use to get to I-5. These trucks are so loud going uphill it is deafening. Don’t know how people put up with it.

If only Europe was as developed as the US this could become reality

Is there a better or more bold road diet happening in the Puget Sound than Kent’s Meet Me on Meeker project? Once this eventually connects to downtown Kent it will be truly transformative for the area. @theurbanist.org.web.brid.gy @typewriteralley.bsky.social

The viaduct is gone but I think there is just as much if not more pavement for cars than before.

$4,000+ a month for less than 1000 sq/ft in Queen Anne. You gotta be kidding me
June 10, 2025 at 4:41 PM
They tore down big trees, could have easily eliminated all cars from the street. SDOT really fumbled the ball in Pioneer Square on many of these streets.

The new bus stop on 4th Ave and Holgate northbound is pretty good improvement.
May 5, 2025 at 7:54 PM
That’s kind of insulting to El Camino. I’d say the Lincoln Blackwood is a better comp and just as much a failure

Ummm yeah no; invading Iraq was still far worse.
